Tile Painting Workshops

During a handful of tile painting workshops offered in 2006 children, moms, dads, guys, and gals of all ages came to paint images on the tiles. The materials were simple unglazed, or bisqued, tiles, underglaze paint colors, and clear glaze. All the materials were provided. The tiles were then taken to the ART HUT, a facility of the Town of Lyons Parks Recreation and CULTURAL Department, where they were glaze fired to cone 04 in an electric kiln.

Pictures of birds are provided for inspiration but partipants are encouraged to paint whatever they want.

These beautiful photos were taken by Cathy Magnifico Powers

The photos of Maya, Michele and Simone pictured at the Lyons Chapter Odd Fellows Hall, are taken during a tile painting event co-sponsored by the Lyons Arts and Humanities Council, www.artinlyons.org.

Don and Mary, Dewey and Valerie were photographed during a session of tile painting at the Lyons Middle/Senior Highschool. These event was sponsored by the Lyons Area Advisory Council on Aging and is an example of the fine activities of the GAP group or the Generationally Active People.
